Oregon Cherry Growers Gives Back

As a grower-owned cooperative, Oregon Cherry Growers are invested in the communities where our fruits are grown. We believe in stewardship, not only sound environmental practices but supporting the local community through involvement and strategic gifts, to ensure future generations a healthy place to live, work and play.

Community Investment Programs

OCG’s community investment program provides financial, in-kind, and volunteer support to causes that serve the communities and citizens in the Willamette Valley and Columbia River Gorge areas of Oregon. We focus our contributions on these types of programs and causes:

  • Hunger Relief: Promoting stability in our community with an emphasis on hunger relief and providing other essential items to sustain families in need. This includes both in-kind donations and financial support.
  • Agriculture Education: Creating and supporting opportunities for youth to learn about agriculture and inspiring them to pursue careers in this field. This includes both experiential and financial support.
  • Health & Wellness: Participating in local or national events to promote health and wellness such as cancer research and support, blood drives, organ donation, etc. This includes both participation and financial support.
  • Local Community Initiatives: Supporting local food, clothing and toy drives, migrants worker day care needs, etc. This includes both participation and financial support.

Donation Eligibility & Requests

Oregon Cherry Growers concentrates its donations of time and financial contributions to support causes consistent with our vision and purpose. Each year, we receive more donation requests than we can possibly meet. That’s why we objectively screen requests based on a high standard of eligibility and purpose, distributing our limited donation budget to areas that focus on our mission and purpose as an agricultural cooperative.

To be eligible for an OCG donation, your organization or program must:

  • Have 501(c)(3) tax exempt status.
  • Demonstrate an impact aligned with OCG’s focused giving areas.
  • Benefit communities and citizens in the Willamette Valley or Columbia River Gorge in Oregon.

If you believe your request is eligible for consideration at OCG, please follow the steps below to apply for an OCG donation.

      1. Email your request to Michelle Halverson, mhalverson@orcherry.com at least 60 days in advance.
      2. Include the following information with your request:
        • Contact information, including name, mailing address and phone number(s).
        • Name of the registered non-profit organization making the request.
        • Information about the cause or event, including any pertinent dates, locations, number of people served, and so on.
        • Specific request (optional levels of support, volunteers, etc.)

After receiving your request, we will respond in writing as soon as possible.

As a supporter of Hunger Relief, Agricultural Education, Health & Wellness and our Local Communities, Oregon Cherry Growers thanks our grower members, Board of Directors, employees and communities for your commitment and loyalty to the cooperative.
