Maintenance & Engineering Manager

Oregon Cherry Growers, one of the top fruit packaging companies in the U.S., is seeking a Maintenance & Engineering Manager at its Production Facility in The Dalles, OR.

The Maintenance Manager will be responsible for facility maintenance and the development, implementation and maintenance of new and existing manufacturing process equipment and control systems, to ensure quality and production efficiency.  This exempt position will report directly to the Operations Manager.


  • Maintain all building facilities/vehicles and evaluate and specify needed repairs
  • Evaluate new materials and products
  • Maintain, rebuild, modify and improve all equipment
  • Manage the maintenance shop, parts/materials inventory and staff
  • Manage the preventive maintenance program to reduce down-time
  • Specify and procure new and used equipment
  • Layout and design new equipment and production lines
  • Continuously improve reliability and performance of all existing equipment
  • Design and modify PLC programs for new equipment and existing equipment to improve efficiency
  • Manage overhead budgets and create/manage capital project budgets
  • Work with all supervisors on ways to improve processes and functionality of all equipment
  • Troubleshoot break downs and specify needed repairs
  • Manage Treatment rooms and all permits associated with such
  • Oversee and participate in safety programs/committees
  • Any other duties as assigned


  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering is preferred, but equivalent education and work experience will be considered.
  • Candidates will have 5 or more years of electrical/industrial controls engineering experience, possess mechanical aptitude, and be skilled in three phase electrical distribution and control, have competent knowledge of NFPA 70 and 70E, and thorough knowledge of instrumentation and controls in a manufacturing process environment.
  • Candidates should be proficient with PLC/HMI troubleshooting
  • Experience with manufacturing and production line equipment.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively in English (speak, read, and write) with plant management, supervision and department personnel.
  • Ability to learn, understand and apply new technologies.
  • Ability to communicate with vendors and contractors from a broad spectrum of disciplines.
  • Ability to work independently and with a team to bring projects from concept to completion.
