Electrical & Controls Superintendent

Oregon Cherry Growers, one of the top fruit packaging companies in the U.S., is seeking an Electrical & Controls Superintendent at its Production Facilities in The Dalles, Oregon.

The Electrical & Controls Superintendent will be responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of new and existing manufacturing process equipment and control systems to ensure product quality and production efficiency. This position will report to the Maintenance & Engineering Manager.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Mentor/supervise Electrical Department personnel and work one-on-one with individuals including controls techs, electricians and instrument techs, to ensure use of proper methods of electrical maintenance and training.
  • Lead and assist Electrical and Instrumentation personnel in complex troubleshooting and control strategy.
  • Perform all duties in compliance with customer, 3rd party, regulatory, and company food safety and quality initiatives and standards.
  • Be responsible for electrical installations, maintenance and safety including compliance with local, state and federal regulations.
  • Manage the preventive maintenance program to reduce down-time
  • Layout and design new equipment and production lines
  • Design and modify PLC programs for new equipment and existing equipment to improve efficiency
  • Troubleshoot break downs and specify needed repairs
  • Oversee and participate in safety programs/committees

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Candidates will have 2 or more years of electrical/industrial controls engineering experience, possess mechanical aptitude, and be skilled in three phase electrical distribution and control, have competent knowledge of NFPA 70 and 70E, and thorough knowledge of instrumentation and controls in a manufacturing process environment.
  • Candidates should be proficient with PLC/HMI troubleshooting.
  • Experience with manufacturing and production line equipment.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to learn, understand and apply new technologies.
  • Ability to communicate with vendors and contractors from a broad spectrum of disciplines.
  • Ability to work independently and with a team to bring projects from concept to completion.

 Physical Requirements

Frequent physical activity includes sitting, standing, walking, operating a keyboard, gripping with hands and fingers, lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds, hearing, talking, close and far vision.  Moderate physical activity includes reaching, color identification, bending, and operating a lift truck.
