Oregon Cherry Growers, one of the top fruit packaging companies in the U.S., is seeking an Environmental, Health, Safety (EHS) & Compliance Manager for its Downtown and Riverside facilities in The Dalles, Oregon. The EHS & Compliance Manager will manage the environmental, health, and safety programs and will be responsible for maintaining compliance at both of these facilities. This position will report directly to the Environmental Director.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Implements & maintains Environmental, Health and Safety programs in accordance with all regulatory compliance requirements
Administers EH&S training programs for the facilities
Conduct accident investigations, track accident trends, and assist in the development of programs for improving performance.
Coordinates incident reporting and injury/illness recordkeeping for the facilities
Acts as a Lead and/or assist with EHS components on Engineering Projects
Evaluates EH&S risks and challenges and develops appropriate risk reduction strategies
Provides day-to-day support and engagement with site personnel in executing assigned safety programs and projects
Oversees safety and industrial hygiene efforts within the facilities
Conducts EHS audits and follows up on corrective actions with departments
Provides technical guidance to the safety staff at the plant
Leads, coordinates and provides ongoing development for the emergency response team
Provides training for all employees, visitors and contractors
Maintains EH&S related documents and records
Improves the quality of safety and environmental management processes following established regulations, policies, standards, and practices.
Functional Skills & Competencies:
Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations
Experience with environmental regulations, including but not limited to, SPCC, Hazardous Waste, and storm water.
Ability to lead and provide focus to others on EH&S strategies, programs and procedures
Ability to work well with all levels within organization
Ability to flex work schedule based on EHS priorities
Five years of experience in EHS or Risk Management, preferably in a manufacturing environment
Possess excellent computer, written and verbal communication skills
Bachelor Degree preferred.
Frequent physical activity includes sitting, standing, walking, operating a keyboard, gripping with hands and fingers, lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds, hearing, talking, close and far vision. Moderate physical activity includes reaching, color identification, bending, and operating a lift truck.
