Document Control Specialist

Oregon Cherry Growers, one of the top fruit packaging companies in the U.S., is seeking a Document Control Specialist at its administrative offices in Salem, Oregon.  The Document Control Specialist responsible for maintaining the company’s document control system to include all customer technical documentation, product specifications, certifications, operating procedures, corporate and facility policies, and forms.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Respond directly to customer requests by providing a multitude of documents including but not limited to product specifications, certifications, continual guarantee, nutritional statement, export requirements, etc.
  • Manage and complete customer databases: i.e.  iCiX, SEDEX, FSEnet, ADQ, isupply/ITQ, etc.
  • Complete customer surveys; coordinate the gathering of information from multiple departments
  • Manage the re-certification process for value added programs; Non-GMO Project, Fair Trade, Kosher, and Halal certificates
  • Facilitate the annual review, update, and approval of corporate and facility operating procedures polices and forms
  • Retrieves historical information and generates reports as needed
  • Review, approve, and facilitate change orders for new supplies and labels
  • Maintains and updates Solomon production specification database
  • Maintains and updates technical sales specifications
  • Research regulatory requirements in the US and foreign countries
  • Monitor and update master list by customer of banned ingredients
  • Monitor and research school lunch plans and recommended dietary standards
  • Calculate product nutritional information by referencing the US nutritional database
  • Review SDS documents for products coming into the facilities.  Coordinate handoff of SDS documents of approved products to Safety and Training Manager for uploading to SDS software database.
  • Assists Tech team with sample preparation and fulfillment as needed
  • Assist with assigned technical projects

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science or related science field preferred.
  • Two years of technical document control experience in the food industry; electronic document and/or change order management system experience highly desired.
  • Demonstrated effective written, verbal and interpersonal skills; ability to write technical documents.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects concurrently, prioritize projects effectively to meet deadlines, work independently and with teams from multiple functional areas.
  • Strong computer skills in MS Office; Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook.  Experience with Share Point desired.

Physical Requirements

Frequent physical activity includes walking, sitting, standing, gripping with hands and fingers, using a keyboard, finger dexterity, hearing, speaking, close vision, and color identification.  Moderate physical activity includes bending, stooping, lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds, reaching, touching, and climbing stairs.
